3. Research framework Find or develop a theoretical base/model/framework to base your literature review around. Review the research on the theoretical (model) area that is in your topic. Provide your judgement as well, preferably using reference to research findings and/or theory. 8
4. Your research issue Bring your theory and context together. Provide details of the latest research and issues in your topic area. What does the research suggest as answer(s) to answer the research question? What is your considered and justified evaluation of the research? Are there areas that haven’t been addressed or resolved? 8

Referencing Requirements:
See the figure below for the potential combination of choices you can use for task three. You are to pick one from each of the three topic categories. For example: How can a model of attitude formation be used to encourage consumers generation Y to reduce their substance abuse of alcohol?
Please note that you will choose a specific theoretical model of attitude or motivation to apply, as there are several under each to choose from. For example, you might choose to use the motivational theory of reasoned action. You will need to support and justify why the model you have chosen is appropriate. Also, you can make some adaption to these theories if you see fit in the context of your research. Some of you may even want to develop your own theoretical model. If you choose to adapt a model or develop your own based on existing research, you will need to provide additional support for why you have adapted the model or developed your own.

Take the position of a marketing executive in your firm – an ad agency. The agency is planning a competitive pitch to win the Tourism Tasmania account. The CEO of the agency has heard about your sharp and ingenious insights into consumer behaviour and has asked you personally to provide a critique and make recommendations on a new approach to a key tourism initiative. She has asked you to write a response to a brief for the agency team to work to using your knowledge of consumer behaviour research and theory and experience in packaging tourism-related products.
You will need to critically analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the feasibility study and other documents on which the initiative is based, in such a way as to show your command of consumer behaviour theory and research and how it can be used to inform marketing practice.
Your “brief” for the critique and recommendations (i.e. the test paper) will be made available to you at 9am on the 21st of October – the deadline being 9am on the 25th of October. Detailed marking criteria and rubrics will be provided simultaneously.
Collusion, which means collaborating with another person to complete this test, is cheating and is therefore not permitted. Exams showing evidence of collusion will be disqualified on these grounds. Any technical issues you experience should be reported immediately to the lecturer by email – it is important that you do not contact other students or your tutor
